The budgetary figures given are indicative. The total public funds awarded by the ARTEMIS Joint Undertaking to projects arising from this Call, following the evaluation and selection of proposals, may differ from the total budget of the Call.

Financial contribution of the ARTEMIS Joint Undertaking to participants in projects: Following the evaluation, selection and award procedures of the ARTEMIS Joint Undertaking, the ARTEMIS Joint Undertaking will conclude grant agreements with participants. The financial contribution of the ARTEMIS Joint Undertaking will be 16.7% of eligible costs incurred by participants to implement the projects.

Financial contribution of the ARTEMIS Member States to participants in projects: Following the evaluation, selection and award procedures of the ARTEMIS Joint Undertaking, ARTEMIS Member States will conclude national grants with participants. The financial contribution of the ARTEMIS Member States will be a certain % of eligible costs incurred by participants to implement the projects which may vary according to the type of participant and the type of R&D activity as specified by each Member State (see Guide for Applicants).

Eligible costs:

For participants established in ARTEMIS Member States, eligible costs are defined by the respective funding authorities issuing the national grant agreements (see Guide for Applicants)
For participants established in Member States or Associated Countries to the Seventh Framework Programme that are not ARTEMIS Member States, eligible costs are defined by the ARTEMIS Joint Undertaking (see Guide for Applicants).

Eligibility criteria: The eligibility criteria for proposals, as well as the eligibility criteria to receive funding from the ARTEMIS JU and from ARTEMIS Member States are specified in the document on ARTEMIS_Eligibility_criteria.pdf

Objectives: The objectives of the Call are set out in the ARTEMIS_Annual_Work_Programme_2008.pdf

Evaluation and selection:

A one-stage submission procedure will be followed
The evaluation criteria and sub-criteria, including weights and thresholds, and the selection and award criteria are set out in the Annual Work Programme 2008 (section 6).

Indicative timetable: It is expected that the grant agreement negotiations for the selected proposals will start in November 2008.

Project agreements: Participants in any project resulting from this Call are required to conclude amongst themselves a project agreement. This project agreement shall lay down the intellectual property arrangements in compliance with Article 23 of the Statutes⁽³⁾ annexed to Council Regulation 74/2008 of 20 December 2007 on the establishment of the ARTEMIS Joint Undertaking.

Ethical requirements: The ARTEMIS Joint Undertaking will not support projects which are contrary to fundamental ethical principles and those recalled in article 4 of the Council decision 2006/975/EC of 19 December 2006 concerning the Seventh Framework Programme of the European Community.

(1) Suspensive Condition: this Call is launched under the condition that the Governing Board of the ARTEMIS Joint Undertaking approves the Financial Rules and the model Grant Agreement of the Joint Undertaking before the Call deadline. The interim Executive Director may cancel the Call if this condition is not fulfilled. In such a case, participants having responded to the Call will be duly informed by the interim Executive Director.

(2) Under the condition that the preliminary draft amending budget No 3/2008 of the general budget of the Communities is adopted by the budgetary authority without modifications that affect this figure.

(3) Note that a corrigendum to Article 23(paragraph 3.4.2) of these Statutes will be published in the Official Journal in order to include the following footnote to this paragraph: "The participants may, by written agreement, agree on a different time-limit or waive their right to prior notice in the case of transfers of ownership from one participant to a specifically identified third party"
